Welcome

Welcome to Ambition Education Trust. We began on 1st September 2024, growing from a friendly merger of two previous successful trusts, Alban Academies Trust and ATLAS MAT. Our new vision and values strongly mirror those from the two, previous trusts.

Our trust is composed of 10 schools situated in Hertfordshire, across St Albans, Welwyn Garden City and Hemel Hempstead. There are five primary and five secondary schools, with over 800 staff delivering high-quality education to 7500 young people from the ages 3 to 18. This is a huge privilege and one we take seriously, to achieve our central aim of Educational Excellence for All.

While each of our schools is unique, our collaborative style of working with mutual challenge, support and partnership enables all schools to thrive and continue to develop into centres of excellence.

There is considerable experience within our central team which, combined with the collaboration between the ten schools provides significant opportunities to share resources and provide a level of professional operation available in medium to larger trusts.

The trust is led by Alan Gray and Margaret Chapman, who operate as CEO and Co-CEO, ably supported by Phil O’Neill (COO), Amy Barclay (CPFO) and Michele Geddes (CEdO). The central team provides finance, HR, IT, operations and Education services for all schools. Most importantly, the headteachers are central to shaping the direction of our work helping to build Ambition Education Trust.

This merger signifies an exciting new chapter in the history of our schools as we continue our drive to provide the very best educational provision for everyone, committed to improving what we do and growing as a result to provide a resilient and sustainable organisation able to meet the future demands of our education system.
